SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCES

run

in the Leicester area and throughout the world

Most Scottish country dances are held on a Saturday evening, usually starting at 7.30 pm and finishing about 11.00 pm. There will often be a live band.

As it is quite energetic, there is invariably an interval after about 10-12 dances (about an hour and a half) when a buffet will be available. Sometimes this will be provided by the host club, but usually it is brought by the dancers themselves "Bring & Share" or "Bring a Plate" to save cost and reduce the workload on the organisers.

It is a common misconception that SCD involves consuming much alcohol - on the contrary, it may be thirsty work, but you will need all your wits about you to successfully get through 20-24 dances without "getting it wrong" too often - upsetting for you and the others in your set. Have a relaxing drink later!
