Come and Join us!
A new season of Scottish
Dancing will soon begin so why not come and join in? No special dress is needed. You don’t have to be Scottish! If you
are a beginner you will be helped every ‘step’ of the way by fully qualified
teachers of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.
Dancing at Whitehall
But first of all, near to
home, the Whitehall Primary School Scottish Dance Group has continued to
thrive. The dancers were delighted to be invited to dance on May Day in
Evington Park and pleased that spectators joined in their dances. They
performed again at the school Fun Day and once more were joined by parents and
friends. Even a teacher from the school joined in the dancing!
When do we meet and what do we do?
Leicester dancers meet on
Monday evenings, Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evenings . Take your pick or
come to all! The dancers enjoy tuition in classes, joining together for social
dancing and a welcome cup of tea and a chat!
Out and about
As well as their weekly
meetings Leicester dancers get out and about. You may have seen the
demonstration group performing at the Evington Village Fete. This year their
venues have ranged from as far afield as The Leeds Festival and Sudbury Park,
Derbyshire to as near as Humberston Gate and the Castle Gardens.

Burns Night
Burns Night in January and
February is a special favourite. The team provide a whole evening’s
entertainment from piping in and addressing the haggis to demonstrations of
jigs, reels and strathspeys and participation dances for the Burns Nighters.
(But not cooking the meal!). What better way to spend a chilly winter
evening. The team is already booked up
for 2009 so if you would like to try a local entertainment with a difference
